Getting a recipe

On the Home page, there is a form that, when submitted, will attempt to parse a recipe from another website page. To submit the form, open a new web page and find the desired recipe on a website. Then, copy the URL of that website, go back to this site, paste it in the form's input, and click the submit button. It will then go to a new page.

If it can be parsed, it will be output with details about the recipe that could be found. If no recipe can be found correctly, or if there was an issue processing the request, an error message will be displayed. Most websites based for hosting recipes should be able to be parsed.

To start over, go back to the Home page.

Viewing a recipe card

Once a recipe has been parsed, it will be output into a recipe card. This card displays information including the time to cook, servings, ingredients, and directions, as well as a link to the original website from which the recipe was parsed. Other details may also include direction sub-sections, where the directions correspond to a single part of the recipe's total instructions.

Some recipes may not have complete information that can be found. For example, some recipes may show the Preparation Time, but not the Cooking Time. Each recipe is different, but most should be able to be processed correctly by the parser.

Viewing the recipe book

The recipe book can be accessed from the home page. There is a button there to take you to it. Once there, you will see all of your saved recipes with links to their card here and to their original webpage.

You can also search for recipes by their title, and filter them by their tags, if they have any listed.

Please note that recipes saved in the recipe book only exist for the browser you saved them in. They exist in the local storage of your browser, so if you clear your cookies or try to view it from another browser on another device, you will not be able to see your saved recipes. We will look for a better solution to handle this.

Saving recipes

Recipes can be saved from the recipe card view. Once you open a recipe from the home page, there is a button to save it to the recipe book. After saving it, it should appear in the recipe book.

Deleting recipes

From the recipe book, click the button that says "Remove Saved Recipes". Then, you can individually select recipes, and then click the submit button to delete them.

You can also delete all saved recipes from the settings page.

Settings

You can adjust the settings for your experience on this from the Settings page.
